Sexual Health Screening
If you have no symptoms and are just looking for a sexual health check you will be tested for the major sexually transmitted infections:
· HIV infection
· Hepatitis B/C infection
· Chlamydia
· Gonorrhoea
· Syphyllis
What’s involved?
This involves a blood test and a urine test. Please book an ordinary blood test appointment with the practice nurse and bring a first morning urine sample in a sterile container. (Please note that screening tests are not covered by the medical card contract.)
If you have new symptoms suggestive of a sexually-transmitted infection (discharge/blisters/sores), you need to book an appointment with one of our doctors. The doctor will arrange tests and treatment based on your symptoms.
How do I get the results?
If your tests are negative, you will be sent a discreet text message as soon as possible to let you know. Negative test results can take up to two weeks. If you test positive for an infection, you will be called and asked to make an appointment to see the Doctor. A positive result will usually come back from the lab within a few days.
How much does it cost?
Please see fees page for both practices
If you test positive for an infection and are called for a follow-up consultation with the Doctor, a normal consultation fee will also apply.
